Most cadets are busy. But Brigid Duffy is busier.
By now, we’ve all heard about Cadet Duffy, two-sport athlete extraordinaire. In the fall, she plays for Coach Tracy Chao on the Army Women’s Soccer Team. Come springtime, she’ll trade out her shin guards for a stick and play for Michelle Tumolo, Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach and self-proclaimed best friend of Coach Chao. In that sport, she earned 2nd-team All-American honors last year… as a freshman!

The first in program history, she's also the only freshman to be named to an All-American team 🤩

But however busy she might be during a normal week, this week is different. Last Friday, Duffy scored the winning goal against Loyola, her fifth goal of the season. That was enough to secure Patriot League Midfielder of the Week honors.
This week, however, she has more than just one event.
Score the game winner and win @PatriotLeague Midfielder of the week? Yea… we like the sound of that.

On Tuesday, the women’ soccer team departed for Allentown, PA. On Wednesday, they played Lafayette, where the Black Knights secured a 2-0 victory. Duffy assisted the game-winning goal off of a corner kick in the 23rd minute.
On Thursday morning, Duffy departed for Starks, MD to train with the USA Women’s Lacrosse U20 team for the day. On Friday, she’ll play in the USA Lacrosse Fall Classic in a game against Canada. In that capacity, she’ll be coached by Manager Angela McMahon, longtime UMass head coach. Duffy will also receive some instruction from a familiar assistant, Coach Tumolo.

But have no fear Army fans. Come Saturday, Duffy will be back in the Black and Gold to play in the Women’s Soccer Star Match in Annapolis. In last year’s contest, a lesser known plebe version of Duffy notched an assist on the game-clinching goal for the Black Knights.
On Sunday, she’ll return to West Point with the rest of her team. It’s not quite a Deion Sanders-style “two sports in 24 hours using a private jet” schedule, but it’s still pretty damned unique.
Plus, Deion got to sleep on the plane while Duffy will have to study on the bus.
